HELLO, IT'S ME!

I'm an English/Italian multimedia artist and tutor based in Gothenburg, Sweden. I am passionate about using creative arts as a tool for storytelling and illustration. I strongly believe in the importance of education in the development and preservation of culture, and I like nothing more than to inspire others to explore their own creativity.

MY STORY

I've always been captivated by the evolution of art and music as story-telling devices throughout history. The most basic object can be used to make a sound or leave a mark, evoking a myriad of emotions and understandings, and these tools have quite literally sculpted our society.

“Some Neanderthal had the magical idea of blowing through a reed to entertain the children one night in a cave somewhere. Then, in a blink of an eye ... civilisation.”
― Damon Lindelof

This fascination inspired me to study the Science and Technologies of Artistic Production at the University of Perugia, before returning to England to embark on a BA in Music, Technology & Innovation at De Montfort University, and subsequently an MA in Sequential Design & Illustration at the University of Brighton. My studies focussed primarily on sound composition and the history of cinematic language, alongside creating interactive audio-visual installations, exploring the role of sound in the construction of narrative in abstract film.

Across my studies, I was lucky enough to study under some really inspiring tutors, and learn from a wide range of international peers. Joining arts groups and collectives exposed me to people whose processes were so diverse to mine, and pushed me far outside my comfort zone, inspiring me to play with new techniques and media. Recently, I've found myself settling into predominantly using acrylics, alcohol markers and inks in my personal pieces, and I've developed I enjoy creating short cartoons using the old hand-drawn frame-by-frame approach; time consuming, but worth it.

Drawing animals is my go-to, whether I've felt bored or inspired. Wildlife shows caught my imagination as a kid, and I've not stopped drawing animals since (though I do occasionally give other things a go, change my mind, and go straight back to animals). I once told Sir David Attenborough that my earliest memory of drawing was while attempting to draw an albatross that I'd just seen on one of his documentaries, and it made him chuckle. I'll take that.
